Jonathan Tipton, Jr., the youngest son of Colonel John Tipton and his wife Mary (Butler) Tipton, was born June 8, 1776, at which time his mother died. Jonathan Tipton Jr. was married twice; first to Lavina Williams, daughter of Lucretia (Adams) Williams, sister of President John Adams. Lavina died September 24, 1836, and Jonathan married a second time, his widow, Margaret, surviving him."
