Margaret Dunbar was the daughter of Sir David Dunbar of Cockburn.

She married, firstly, Alexander Lindsay, 4th Earl of Crawford, son of David Lindsay, 3rd Earl of Crawford and Marjory Ogilvy.

She married, secondly, Sir William Wallace of Cragie after 1453.

She died from July 1498 to January 1499/0.

As a result of her marriage, Margaret Dunbar was styled as Countess of Crawford on 17 January 1445/46.
