About Maria Diamant (Breuer)
Deported in 1944 to Auschwitz with her husband, Laszlo Diamant, her sister Klari and her parents. Assigned with Klari to a labor camp, Duderstadt; transported in early 1945 to Theresienstadt, weeks before liberation by the Red Cross and the Russian army. She and Klari survived arrival at Theresienstadt because of the ministrations of her sister-in-law, Franzi Samel's, sister, Eva Ulrichova (Samel), also interned there. Maria moved to Uruguay to be near her brother, Dr Alexander Breuer, and his family. She developed a successful fashion manufacturing business there and sold garments to major Montevideo boutiques and stores.
