Death of Mrs. Horace K. White.
It is with pain and sorrow that we are called upon to-day to announce the death of Mrs. Horace K. White, at the family residence on James street, last night. Her death was not unexpected, and though it was for sometime apparent that she could not recover, all hope was not banished till the dread summons came. During her comparatively brief residence here, Mrs. White evisced those traits of character which won the admiration and esteem of not only those who had the pleasure of her acquaintance, but those who estimate virtues by the fruits they bear, alike respected her. Mrs. White was a daughter of the late Samuel Strong, of Buffalo. She was married about twelve years ago, and has since resided in Syracuse. Some months ago her health became seriously undermined, and though the best medical skill was employed, she gradually sank into the embrace of death. A prolonged stay in the South last winter perhaps stayed the approach of the Destroyer for a time, and strengthened the hopes of her friends; but there was no earthly power that could save her for the sphere in which she was so much needed. Three children - sons - are left motherless, just at ages when a mother's care is particularly desirable. The death of Mrs. White will be widely and deeply mourned. Possessed of rare graces of person and mind, she was eminently fitted to adorn the high social position she occupied. But her loveliness of character was far more beautiful in her own household, where she ever exhibited the virtues of the truest womanhood, and the purest mathetical and literary culture. A member of St. Paul church her outward profession was but the natural expression of a pure and childlike faith, which beautified all her natural graces and consecrated them in devotion to the service of her Master. Notice of the funeral service will be given hereafter.
