Anders and Martha Dahl left Norway with daughters Marie 3 and Anna 1 in 1879. They sharecropped in Minnesota for some years, then homesteaded in North Dakota. There Martha lost and buried husband and 6 out of 8 children. She sold the farm and left with an orphaned granddaughter for Canada where she took up homestead once again. She lost all her cattle in a blizzard, and finally settled in Medicine Hat. In 1931 at 79 years of age, last time her folks in Norway heard from her, she were running her own boarding house there with her eldest daghter, Mrs. Marie Haight, also a widow. At that time she had 6 great-grandchildren, one in California named Spicer, one in Seattle named Haight and four in Medicine Hat of name unknown to me. Chances are that some of them, born in the twenties, could be alive today
