About Martha Ann Petticrew (Mints)

Daughter of Sarah Davis Bennett Mints and William A. Mints. Lived for a time in Greenfield (not Greencastle as her daughter said), Indiana, where her father owned large tracts of land (320 acres) according to her daughter, Mary Petticrew. Buck Creek is a township in Hancock Country very near Cumberland and the county seat of Greenfield. The Mints Family has a long record of living in Buck Creek.

Raised by her sister Sarah Davis Conover, wife of Peter Conover of Franklin Township, Warren County, Ohio, which was another large settlement of people from Southern New Jersey. Married Algernon Sidney Petticrew on July 5, 1850 in her half-sister and brother-in-law's home in Franklin, Ohio.

Lived in Dayton, Ohio. (Needs to be checked. A.S. lived in Xenia and in St. Louis.)

I believe that Martha Ann's mother died in around 1837. She would have been 8 years old, which is why her older half-sister would have raised her.

The fact that she lived in Indiana was because her mother married her father in Cumberland County, NJ, about 1825 or 1826 after being widowed and moved out to Indiana where he had settled beginning in 1817 approximately.
