About Mary Ann Sutherland (Timmings)

Immigrated to America with Horton D. Haight Company in 1863, along with John Streator Gleason, Son Alexander George and his wife Francis Slater and their son George. She came 7 years after her husband Thomas.

According to family records Mary Ann was "escorted to Utah by Elder John Streator Gleason who had stayed at her home while serving as District Pres. in Newcastle on his mission. Elder Gleason was bringing a fine new coach across the plains for President Brigham Young. Mother Mary Ann made the long trip across the plains in style in President Young's new coach."
