At eleven o'clock on Tuesday morning the imposing rites of matrimony were solemnised at the Roman Catholic Cathederal between Miss Mary Shepard, daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Shepard, J.P., of this town, and Mr Jules Dent Young, of Bath. The bride wore a pretty dress of white satin with orange blossoms and nun's veiling, while the four bridesmaids, Miss Kathleen Shepard, Misa Annie Shepard, Miss S. Collingridge and Mise Mardel, were handsomely attired in white dresses and bonnets...

Amongst those present were : Mrs. Shepard (mother of the bride), Mr. J.S Shepard, Mr. and Mrs. Bostock, Mr. and Mrs. Collingridge, Mrs Davis, Mr. Le Brasseur, Mr Britten, F.L.S, Mr W.Weldon ...

TThe gifts to the bride and bridegroom number upwards of a hundred and are very handsome and costly. A handsome marble clock was given, together with an address, by the employees of Messrs. Rymer and Shepard, leather merchants ; and an elegant statue and an address were forwarded by the children of the Guild of St. Mary, a confraternity to which the bride ofr many years belonged. The servents at St. Edmund's presented a pretty fish slice and fork in a case. The bride was given away by Mr, J.S. Shepard, her brother, and Mr. Lancashire officiated as best man. Later in the day the newly married pair proceeded to Mawgan, Cornwall for their honeymoon.
