P37: "MARY EUGENIA JOHNSON (7) was born March 2, 1863, the daughter of Milton Washington Johnson and Maria Knight. She was the granddaughter or Rev. Jesse Knight. More on the Knight family will be found in Allied Families."
"MARY (7) attended LaGrange College, LaGrange, Georgia, where it is assumed that she studied art. She was interested in art and used her talents in many ways. She worked with charcoal to recreate the horses on the farm, and as mentioned earlier, she created a mural on a wall in one of their homes. Also, she designed motifs to be used on stoves. Her daughter, ELIZABETH (3) remembers an acorn design that was popular for use on stoves to help make them more attractive. While living in Waynesboro, her husband had an interest in Virginia Stove Works. MARY (7) died in Salem, Virginia, December 29, 1914, and is buried beside her husband in Evergreen Cemetery, Roanoke, Virginia."
"My grandmother, MARY (7) died before I was born, so I never knew her."
