About Mary French
Mary French was taken to Canada by the French soldiers and Huron Indians following the DeerfieldMasscre in 1704. She was redeemed with her Father and brother Thomas in 1706.
Freedom, Martha, and Abigail were all captured at Deerfield, marched to Canada, and never returned. Freedom and Martha married and had large families. Abigail assimilated in to an Indian way of life and never married. Mary and Thomas were also captured and marched to Canada, but were redeemed in 1716. The baby John was killed.
