Samuel - b. 1653, Hartford, Hartford Co., CT; d. Jan. 13, 1726, East Haddam, Middlesex Co., CT; bur. there in Old Cove Burial Ground. Married Mary LORD (b. May 1649, Saybrook, CT; d. Sep. 14, 1736), daughter of William LORD and Dorothy, and granddaughter of Thomas LORD and Dorothy BIRD. Children of Samuel and Mary OLMSTED: Samuel married Mary ROWLEY; John married Susannah BRAINERD; Sarah married Jared CONE; and Elizabeth married John CHURCH.

Mary Lord Olmstead's Will Page 146-7 Name: Mary Olmstead Location: East Haddam Invt. œ102-12-10. Taken 29 October, 1739, by John Spencer, Jabez Chapman and John Willey, Jr. Will dated 23 April, 1734. I, Mary Olmstead of East Haddam, in the County of Hartford, do make this my last will and testament: I give to my son Samuel Olmstead all my estate after my just debts are paid, except what is hereafter in this my will otherwise bequeathed. I give to my son John Olmstead my Bible. I give to my daughter Sarah Cone 1 Duroy suit of aparrel and 20 shillings in money. I give to my daughter Elizabeth Church my bed and bedstead with the furniture; also I give to her my trunk and all that is therein; also I give to her my box and all that is in it. I give to her my warming pan, my brass kettle, two pewter platters, one basin and one porringer; also I give 9 sheets and two pillow beers, also my linen wheel. I give to my above-named children and their heirs and assigns in manner as above sd. I constitute my son-in-law John Church to be sole executor. Witness: John X Spencer, Isaac Spencer, Jabez Chapman. -------------------- In 1646 Nicholas Olmstead was chosen "Surveyor of Highways" and for nine years between 1653 and 1683 he was "townsman" for the north side of Hartford. In 1672 and 1673 he was a deputy to the General Court.

His wife, Sarah Loomis, died in 1667. Nicholas then married Mary Lord, the widow of Dr. Thomas Lord who had lived in Wethersfield, Connecticut.
