The original building was a log structure erected circa 1763, replaced in 1811 by a stone building at the site of the present church. The present brick building was dedicated in 1868. Sisters Sarah Elizabeth Reynolds b.Apr1858 and Mary Ann Reynolds b.9Nov1857 both in Rockbridge Co VA married brothers John M Kick b.Oct1860 and Samuel Marion Kick b.30Nov1854.

Sarah Elizabeth and Mary Ann Reynolds were daughters of James Reynolds and Rachel A Petticrew. Their mother, Rachel Petticrew b.Dec1830 (prob Campbell Co, VA) was the daughter of John Petticrew and Mary Ann Moore.

Rachel Petticrew has surviving descendants (via her marriage to James Reynolds noted above), but her brothers and sisters did not. All the other children and the Mother were murdered 16 Dec 1846. Rachel survived as she was away visiting.

Her father John Petticrew b.abt.1805 Rockbridge Co., VA married 26 Jan 1830 Campbell C., VA to Mary Ann Moore b.1805 Campbell Co VA.

Some researchers have believed that this John Petticrew was the son of William Petticrew b.abt.1765 of Dauphin Co., PA.

Mary Ann Moore b.1805 (claimed by some to be 16 Feb 1805) d.16Dec1846 Rockbridge Co., VA was the daughter of Pridham Moore and Judy B Franklin (source Campbell County Virginia Marriage Bonds 1781-1854, Genealogical Society of Utah 1937, p99, Petticrew, John to Mary A Moore 26 Jan 1830, Predham Moore – father). The ancestry of this family goes back many generations can be found at www.gencircles.com/users/gcwec4474/1.

Note. In most records Pridham Moore is listed in various recorded as Predham, Prudham or Prudie. Actually he was named for his Mother, Mary Ann Pridham of Richmond Co., VA
