About Mary Elizabeth Russell, convict

Mary Elizabeth Russell was arrested and tried at the Old Bailey on 9 December 1789, for stealing a hank of silk valued at 10 shillings. She was found guilty and sentenced to seven years transportation. She was transported with 150 other female convicts on the Mary Ann (300t) of the Third Fleet, arriving Port jackson on 9 July 1791.
