Daughter of William L and Mary Aborn Strong. Her father was the Mayor of New York City from 1895-1897. She married Albert Richardson Shattuck on 14 Dec 1889, He was a wealthy banker from Ohio that made his fortune in New Orleans Louisiana and New York City. They lived at 19 Washington Square in New York City. They also owned a summer home in Lenox Mass. called The Mount which is now a National Monument to Edith Wharton. The home was built by Pulitzer Prize winning author Edith Wharton.
