Edward Riggs

• birth: by 1593 based on date of first marriage
• death: Roxbury 5 March 1671/2
• marriage: (1) Nazeing, Essex, 16 Sept 1618 to Elizabeth Holmes; she was buried at Roxbury October 1635; (2) Roxbury 5 April 1635 Elizabeth Roosa (comments below). She died at Roxbury 2 Sept 1669.

Children with first wife:

1. Edward bp Nazeing 17 Oct 1619 m by 1662 ("my son Edward's wife" who had at least four children by him by 1670)
2. Lydia b. say 1623; bur Roxbury Aug 1633
3. Elizabeth bp Nazeing 30 Dec 1627; buried Roxbury May 1634
4. John bp Nazeing 17 Jan 1629/30; buried Roxbury Oct 1634
5. Mary bp Nazeing 1 July 1632; m say 1649 Benjamin Twitchell

Comments: Although Savage thought that Edward Riggs had two daughters who lived to marry, but this apparently assumes that grandchild Elizabeth Allen (daughter of Mary Riggs Twitchell) was born an Allen. Elizabeth Twitchell Allen was the wife of William Allen of Medfield.

[Note: Either the death date of Elizabeth Holmes is incorrect, or the marriage date of Edward Riggs and Elizabeth Roosa is incorrect since there is a contradiction. One genealogist speculated that Elizabeth Roosa was the Elizabeth that Edward Riggs' son, Sergeant Edward Riggs married.]
