About Masha WINOGRAD
Masha Winograd was adopted by a relative, a descendant of Mordechai Margolis, Rochla Leah Margolis Bryman and her husband. See Mashke (Masha) Abramski, who perished in the Holocaust. Her name was entered in the Suwalki Necrology by her sons Samuel and Josef.
Mashke Bryman Abramsky was the adopted daughter of Rochla Leja Margolis Bryman and Mordechai Leyzar Bryman. Rochla Leah was the daughter of Chava Margolis and Joseph (Josiel) Frankel. Neil Rosenstein says in The Margolis Family (1984) that Mashke WHO WAS ADOPTED was likely a Winograd/Horowitz. Specifically: "Their adopted daughter, Mashke, was probably a niece to Rachel Leah...Mashke (or Maasha) was the daughter of Samuel Shmelke Winograd of Lida. The family were direct descendents of the levite Horowitz family, their branch tracing back to the famed Chasidic Rabbi, Rabbi Shmuel Shmelke of Nikolsburg (1726 - 1778)."
