Dictionary of Canadian Biography says:
"Mathurin was married on 30 Sep 1647. His wife, Francoise GOUDEAU, was only 13; she gave him 16 children...."
He was a farmer and business man...built a store/went into business with his 2 brothers on the Square in the Lower Town (Quebec)...he farmed in the summer and concentrated on business in the winter. Of the 3 of them, only he was able to write.
If Marie Marthe's birthyear of 1636 is correct...she could not be the daughter of Francoise GOUDEAU. However, she could still be Maturin's child by another woman or earlier wife. Mathurin is listed as her father in her marriage record to Jean DOYON in Tanquay...p441.
