Father: Richard Rutledge Mother: Winefred Patience Elizabeth Smith

Spouse 1: Samuel Baird - 4 September 1830 - Perry Country, Alabama. Samuel was a brick mason. Divorced 30 April 1854 in Missouri. Samuel was unable to withstand the persecution that LDS Church members suffered, and he declined to cross the plains. Samual was excommunicated from the church in the early 1850's. He died in a yellow fever epidemic in 1860 in New Orleans, Louisianna. They had ten children, the first nine being born in Perry County Alabama; the last, James Hyrum Baird, being born on a river boat at Quincy, Illinois.

Spouse 2: William F. Greer, 27 June 1854. They were divorced 21 December 1858 in Missouri. The divorce possibly took place because he refused to cross the plains to Utah. No children.

Spouse 3: Haden Wells Church, sealed in the Salt Lake Endowment House 15 October 1870. He had previously married two other women. Shortly after this marriage he left for a mission to the Southern States where he died and was buried in Tennessee.

Matilda immigrated to Utah in an ox-pulled wagon leaving Kansas in the spring of 1863, arriving in Utah in the next fall. She lived the remainder of her life in Bountiful and Centreville, Davis County, Utah.
