1716; m. : 1st. Susannah Harcurt, b. ; d. before 1696; dau. of

Richard and Elizabeth (Potter) Harcurt, of Warwick, R. I., and Oyster Bay. L. I.

After his father's death lie removed to "the Farms" at Lusum, now Jericho,

and lived for n while at West Neck, South Oysterbay. He m. 2d, Phebe ,

family name unknown, no issue.

Issue by 1st marriage; order uncertain:

I Elizabeth, b. abt. 1665; m. 1st. 16S5. as his 3d wife, Theophllus Phillips, of

Newtown. L. I. She m. 2d, by Friends Ceremony 2/9 mo. (Nov.) 1690,

-------------------- He moved from Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York to Cape May, New Jersey about 1690 and became one of the Cape's first white men. Secured ‘Quaker Lease’ with local Indians (he paid fairly for his land and honored his lease.) During later Indian raids, all such holders of Quaker Leases were left unmolested while those not without were often murdered in barbarous fashion.
