About Mavis Laverne Bryant

Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE — Mavis McDuffie Bryant, 84, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully in the presence of her husband on Wednesday, June 27, 2012.

Born in Bladen County, on April 7, 1928, Mavis was the youngest daughter of the late Elbert Stacy McDuffie and Myrtise Edge McDuffie. She was employed for many years in the offices of both Fayetteville Fabrics and Lakedale Mill.

Surviving Mrs. Bryant are her adoring husband of 63 years William Marshall Bryant; two daughters, Lisa Maria Bryant and Marisa Lanita Bryant English and son-in-law Thomas E. “Tripp” English III; beloved grandson, Marshall Bryant English; and her precious older sister, Wilma Louise McDuffie, all of Fayetteville.

The family would be remiss to not remember the many first cousins, aunts, uncles and friends she grew up with and loved dearly during her years in Massey Hill. Many of those cherished people were there to welcome her when she arrived in Heaven, and we are sure she was overjoyed to see them again.

Services will be held at Victory United Methodist Church in Massey Hill in Fayetteville on the corners of Southern Avenue and Quality Road at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012, officiated by the Rev. Paul Smith, the Rev. Maurice Lancaster and Rev. Tryon Lancaster. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour before the service, from 10 to 11 a.m., in the fellowship hall of VUMC.

Donations may be sent in her memory to Victory UMC, 404 Quality Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306.
