About Mavis Farr (Clawson)

Mavis Clawson Farr Mavis Clawson Farr, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully with family on June 1, 2007 in Mona, Utah.

Grandma Farr was born in Binghamton, AZ on February 8, 1920 to George A. Clawson and Maude Bingham Clawson. She married her sweetheart, Maurice F. Farr on August 9, 1936 and they were sealed as a family on June 25, 1954 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Mavis and Maurice raised four sons and one daughter; Gary M. (Dixie), Douglas F. (Lana), D. Kirk (Mary), LaMont C. (Vicki), and Tamra. Their lives together were spent ranching, farming, and teaching in AZ, UT, and NV. They were always together in whatever they did. Grandma was a wonderful mother and housewife, as well as a great farmhand and friend. For many years Grandpa and Grandma ran the LDS cattle ranch outside Elko, Nevada. It was nothing for both to be up before dawn feeding cows in the winter or baling hay in the summer. Their lives were rewarded from working together and working the land.

Grandma's greatest joy was her family; she also loved singing, crocheting, knitting, and many other crafts. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While in Elko, Grandpa was called as the Branch President over a LDS branch on the Shoshone reservation. Grandma served in many callings including Relief Society President and chorister. While serving Grandma and Grandpa were adopted in as full members of the Shoshone Indian tribe. They loved the people and the people loved them.

Grandma endured many hardships in her life, but always uplifted anyone she was around. She inspired us all to be better. She was truly a special lady. She will be missed by her living family and welcomed by her husband, parents, and many others that preceded her in death. Her legacy lives on with 22 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Thoma Lloyd of Salt Lake City.

A viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. with services following at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the Mona LDS Chapel. Grandma will be buried beside her loving husband in Spanish Fork, Utah.
