Robert Dalzell: 1766 Bred racehorses at Ballylisbredan, Dundonald, according to Peter Carr's 'The most unpretending of places: a history of Dundonald'. White Row ress, 1990 p.95 ' ... there was Dalzell of Ballylisbredan who catered for the shady end of the market. His stallion Rainbow, the sire of Hero Black, could be availed of for 'half a guinea and a shilling to the boy'. Business was good, until Hero Black's owner took space in the New Letter to deny that the horses were related, and to call Dalzell a fraud. Dalzell made a fuss about so base and False an Imputation but quietly dropped the pedigree claim.' 1786 Age at death: 67 yrs.
