Menashe left his home on January 21, 1941, to go to the offices of the "New Zionist Organization". The NZO was organizing the "trip" of the Struma. Menashe wanted to ask "Why are all the delays, and when, at last, shall we sail ??".
At that day "The Rebellion Of The Legionairs" started. Menashe did not return home.
After "The Rebellion was suppressed", the count of the Jewish victims in Bucharest alone was about 120. Most of them were found piled up in "Pedurea Jilava" (Jilava Woods, or Jilava Forest). Mutilated bodies. Naked. "It was a pity to waste good clothings". About 15 bodies were found in the "Abator" (Slaughter House) in "Splaiul Unirii" (Unirii Pier). These bodies were also naked and mutilated. About 3 or 5 of them were hanging on meat hooks, carrying "Kosher Meat" stamps.
According to info received from relatives who came to Israel after WW2, Grandpa Menashe's body was also found in that "Abator".
