About Moses KAHN

Moses was a shoe salesman. He served in World War I in the M.G.K. According to his very faded service record he received a medal (third class but type indecipherable) for action on 14/10/16. He appears to have been in Arras as early as October 1914 and seems to have been based in Artois. Other dates mentioned under 'noteworthy action' are: 10.10 - 10.12.14 Maison Blanche illegible 9.5. - 23.7.15 Arras 1.3 - 23.6.16 Artois 7.7.16 - 9.8.16 Artois 10.8.16 - 6.9.16 Somme 7.9.16 - 18.11.16 Aisne Moses was injured during the war and carried a deep depression in the top of his head for the rest of his life. He married upon his return from the war. His wife, Berta, later encouraged him to pursue rabbinical studies. Bert and Moshe had a print of Van Gogh's The Harvest in their home.
