About Nathan Parke

It is estimated that Nathan Park/e was born ca 1715-1717, was married ca 1740, and died ca 1784-85

There is a record of the baptisms of two of his children, Sarah and Richard, on 5 Feb 1769, in a locality that was then in Hunterdon County. By that time Charles was a married man, and he was later baptized on 10 May 1770. It is these records which give information on which the estimates of Nathan's birth and marriage are based. His children were born in the following order: Charles, Sarah, Joseph, and Richard.

A few years after the baptisms, both Nathan and his son Charles had moved their families to North Carolina. By 1778, both Nathan and Charles were on the Tax List of Capt. Cox's district, in Rowan Co., N.C. Nathan was still on the Tax List of Carson's District of Rowan Co. However, by 1784, he was in failing health. In June, he wrote a will stating that he was "sick and weak in body." At that time, his wife Mary and his four children were alive. Charles, his son, and "Anna Todd" were the witnesses. The beneficiaries included his wife, Sarah Smith, Richard, Joseph, and Charles.
