The Police Commissioner of Nijmegen requested that Nathan Pels be located, detained and brought to trial. He was suspected of having left his place of residence without the required authorization and he had been on the run since 27 August 1942. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding. An order was also made for any money found on him to be seized.
