Obadiah Perry, son of William and Anna Perry of Watertown, married Aug. 21, 1667, Esther Hassel, born Cambridge, Dec. 6, 1648, daughter of Richard Hassell. See Hassell family.

They lived a few years in Watertown and was one of the first families of Dunstable. On account of the expusure during King Philip's War, he removed to Concord and soon after to Billerica.

He returned to Dunstable before 1680, and was there killed by the Indians, Sept. 28, 1691. "Obadiah Perry and Christopher Temple dyed by the hand of our Indian enemies, September, the 28th day in the morning."

Birth: unknown Death: Sep. 28, 1691

Obadiah PARRY/PERRY SR was killed by Penacook Indians on the banks of the Nashua River North of Dunstable MA towards present day NashuaNH along with Christopher TEMPLE.

Earlier in the month(SEP1691), his Hassell in-laws were massacred in the same area(see#2730). The Penacooks & Abenaki had allied themselves with the French during King William's War(1689-169?) and had been raiding the towns along the New Hampshire/Massachusetts border.

It was said of Christopher TEMPLE who was killed with Obadiah PARRY: ""He was killed by Indians Sept. 28, 1691. There is a rock in the channel of the Nashua river, now [1900] covered by flowage of water, about thirty rods above the upper mill of the Nashua Manufacturing Company, called 'Temple's rock,' supposed to be near the place of his murder. Tradition says he, with others who were killed at the same time, were buried on this spot. He lived on the Hollis road, on the Nashua side of Mine Falls. On 3 Dec 1685 Christopher married Alice Hassell, daughter of Joseph Hassell & Prudence [Howell].242 Born ca 1665."
