About Orven Fischbach

Born Aug. 10, 1914 in Spokane, WA to Max and Golda Fischbach, died in Oakland, CA on February 23, 2004 of natural causes. Orven was raised in Spokane, WA and graduated from the University of Washington. He married Vivian Comber Fischbach shortly after graduation, and the two of them moved to Oakland in the early 40's. Employed all of his working life at Pacific Pipe Company where he worked with his brother-in-law Ellis Jacobs and other family members. Orven was active in the Jewish Community and one of the first persons in the nation to receive a Cochlear Implant from University of California Medical Center, San Francisco, CA. Orven is survived by his wife Vivian of 30 years and his two sons Bernard (Sandra) of Los Angeles, CA and Gregory (Linda) of New York, NY as well as his four grandchildren, Rachel, Noah, Jason and Benjamin (Jennifer). Services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26th at 11:00 AM at the Home of Eternity Cemetery Chapel, 5000 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA.
