To be able to have an interesting and useful tree it is recommended that deceased pofiles are set to "public", because It is history. I perfectly understand the restrictions for living profiles, but not for deceased ones.

Please fill person's first name and nothing else to "First name"-box. If also second name is written there, the system can't easily find the duplicate profiles in GENI.
