About Peter Carter

Info copied from Anthony W. Cox Geneology. See also The Decendents of CAPT Thomas Carter

Peter Carter served in the revolutionary war. He inherited half of his father's five hundred acre plantation in King George County where he lived until late in his life when he moved to Fauquire County with his son George -- American Genealogical Research Institute, A History of the Carter Family, p 221

On his date of death: This profile previously had May 15, 1765, but that would have made it impossible for him to have served in the war. Contrarily, The descendants of Capt. Thomas Carter of "Barford", Lancaster County, Virginia, 1652-1912 page 225 puts his year of death as Dec 1789 or Jan 1790, which seems more plausible.
