Peter Dudley Jacobs was born on October 30, 1816 in Shelby Co., Kentucky. He was named Peter Dudley after Col. Peter Dudley under whom his father, James, had served in the War of 1812. Peter married Mary Ann Utterback January 27, 1839 in Johnson Co., Indiana. They had thirteen children, six of whom reached maturity. Peter participated in the Civil War, enlisting on January 24, 1864; mustered out July 21, 1865. During the war he was transferred from the 27th to the 70th Indiana Regiment. Peter died July 15, 1874, probably in Johnson Co., Indiana. Cemetery: Utterback Cemetery, located about 1/2 mile west of S.R. 135 on 200 N, east of railroad. Cemetery is on the south side of the road about 1/8 mile off of 200 N next to drive going to a house. Cemetery has a fence around it and is overgrown.
