Peter Knegtel

I started with 'this genealogic project' when I was about 17 years, after my granddad had told me something about the history of our Knechtel family in the 1100's in Rouffach, their desc. in Bohemia in the 1400's and one of them came in 1746 to the Netherlands and married their. His name changed in Knegtel. because we use a silent g for -ch- in the Netherlands and don't pronounce it like 'Knektel' or something like that like in the USA.

It took me a long time, to find the exact relation with the Bohemian Knechtel's. When I started to use the internet (1998) I found several people who were also interested in the Knechtel history and with their help I can go back for my line till the 1480's in Bohemia.
In my program are about 24000 Knechtel's and other spellingvariants of the name.

I started in 1973 as a teacher, became in 1975 principal and in 1987 I started my own company Knegtel Informatica Opleidingen, a training facility for computer education.
