Peter Cornia Putnam, known as "Pete" was born August 8, 1885 in Woodruff, Rich County, Utah, the son of Savannah Western Clarke Putnam and Clarissa Amelia Cornia Putnam. Pete spent his boyhood in Woodruff helping his parents on their ranch until old enough to work in Salt Lake City when not needed on the ranch. It was during the time he worked with his brothers in Salt Lake City that he met Olivette Buttle. Olivette and Pete were married in the Salt Lake Temple, September 27, 1911. They had five children: Grant Buttle Putnam, Lucille Putnam Hobbs, Adella Putnam Pannell, Max Leland Putnam and Olive Putnam Johnson.
Pete was a fun-loving fellow, a great tease, and was noted for his strength. Pete was a young man of 38 when he died March 17, 1923 at Woodruff, his oldest child being only ten. The medicine and medical skills of his day were not sufficient to save his life. He was buried March 20, 1923, in the Woodruff Cemetery.
