About Peter Guillermo Sosa

It was 1943 and you were invited by Alice Sanchez to my sister Ida's wedding to Joe Marinello remember? You were a smiling, charming, good-looking guy who loved to dance and loved being around people. You should have been a politician because you sure knew how to circulate and keep the energy flowing. Anyway, Lydia...your wife, was at the party, and she was 16 and very very naive. You knocked her over with your charm and she's been trapped ever since. You had a good life together and it's been mostly good for you both, God bless! Your sis-in-law, Lydia Benitez Castillo

his wife by his side, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2012 at 87. Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, as a young boy, he and his mother left the island and traveled to New York City. A member of the Greatest Generation, he lived through the Great Depression. He served over 9 years in the U.S. Navy, as a Seabee in the Pacific during World War II and also in the Korean War. Awarded a scholarship to the Juilliard School of Music, he instead chose to follow his ethic of hard work. His career path took him from age 6 through 86, notably as a union organizer for the ILGWU in New York, and as a luminary in the transportation field for over 45 years while living in Miami Springs, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lydia, son Howard, daughter-in-law Alycia, and grandchildren Samuel, Martha, and Dakota. He goes to be with his late mother, Teresa and daughter, Lynne.
