"Grandpa Jack (Philander Jackson) died from exposure in his tan yard when Pop (James W Lee) was ten, and Sister Fannie (Francis Jackson Lee Woodside) was just a baby. Grandma and her two little orphans went to live off the charity of one of her relatives. Grandma was crippled with what was then called rheumatism, and they had no place to go."
