United States immigration records show that Philip Zerkowitz, age 35, from Vienna, arrived in New York City, 17 September 1866, on the ship "Palmyra". He likely stayed for only a short period of time, then returned to Vienna.

In 1870, "Filipp Zerkowitz, herrenkleiderverlag", is seen living in Vienna at 8, Blindeng. 20. His brother, Bernard Zerkowitz, was also residing at the same address. In 1880, "Filipp Zerkowitz, einkaufer", is seen at 2, Glockeng. 23, Vienna. In 1907, Philip was living at 2, Novaragasse 87, Vienna. His gravestone refers to him as "ohne Beruf".

Philip Zerkowitz spent his last years in Vienna. His nephew Emil wrote the following about him: "[Uncle] Phillip moved to Vienna, and married Bertha Groag, called Betti. They had three children, Flora, Yolo, and Armin..."
