About Porfyrios Dikaios, O.B.E.

Brother of Charilaos Dikiaos. Born in Nicosia. Graduated from Athens University and British School of Archeology in Athens (1924-1925) and in Liverpool (1925-1926). Continued his studies in France (1926-1928). Returned to Cyprus to work at the Museum of Archeology (1929-1960), becoming Head of Antiquities (1960-1963). Studied in Princeton (1960-1963) and taught in the US at Brandeis (1965-1966). Taught in Heidelburg University until his death. Visiting professor at Mawr College (1964) and Uppsala (1967). He was involved in several excavations in Cyprus including Khirokitia, Sotira, Enkomi.
