About Rabbi Julius Samuel
Julius Samuel was the Chief Rabbi of Norway. On 2 September 1942, in Oslo, he was ordered to report to the Gestapo.
His wife urged him to go into hiding, or to flee. As Rabbi he said that he was unable to abandon his community and was arrested with 208 other Norwegian men. They were sent to an internment camp at Berg, just south of Oslo.
