After his mother died a month after his birth, Rabbi Simcha was taken into the Baal Shem Tov's home. Rabbi Simcha was cared for by the Baal Shem Tov's daughter, Adil.
Under the watchful eye of the founder of Chassidus, Rabbi Simcha was trained into a lifestyle devoted to G-d. He would spend long hours away from home, in the fields privately serving his Creator. He was about ten years old when the Baal Shem Tov died, (1760).
Some three years later, after his bar mitzvah, Rabbi Simcha was married to Adil's daughter, Feiga. The couple were given the house of the Baal Shem Tov as their wedding present. There they often layed host to the numerous Tzaddikim of the generation who would journey to Medzeboz to be at the graveside of the Baal Shem Tov.
Rabbi Simcha and Feiga had four children, three sons, including the Breslover Rebbe, and a daughter.
