VARCOE, Rachel (Daigle)

Rachel (Daigle) Varcoe, 89, of Simsbury, beloved wife of the late Ernest Varcoe, peacefully passed away on Sunday, (November 15, 2009). She was born on July 22, 1920 in Upper Frenchville, ME to the late Louis Wilfred and Mary Collins Daigle. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School in Pittsfield, MA. Rachel was a loving mother who cherished her children and was always selfless and generous, sacrificing her own needs to provide for her family. She was a kind and sweet lady whose generous spirit and quiet wisdom enriched the lives of her entire family and her many friends. She leaves a daughter, Joanne Simonds of Simsbury and four sons, Ellis Varcoe and his wife Linda of North Granby, Russell Varcoe of Huntington, Kenneth Varcoe and his wife Josette of Paris, France, and Paul Varcoe and his wife Paula of Somers; fourteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren; and a step-sister, Jacqueline Madore and two step-brothers, Reno Ouellette and Paul Ouellette. She was predeceased by a sister Mary Mildred Daigle, brothers Wilfred Daigle and Levite Daigle, and a step-brother Roger Ouellette.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009 at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue in Windsor. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home with burial following in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
