Rachel2 Hatfield (George, #6]. Born 1 June 1833 in Greene County, Indiana. Married 1st Levi Gastineau (see #2]. Married 2nd William Laselle 25 September 1883 in Greene County, Indiana [Greene County, Indiana, Marriage records, Book L, p. 451]. Died 6 June 1892 in Greene County, Indiana, and was buried in Old Linton Cemetery, Linton, Greene County, Indiana [Loraine E. Kraus, Cemeteries of Western Greene County, Indiana (Decorah, IA: Amundsen Publishing Co, nd), vol. 2]. Her headstone reads: Rachel Lasselle / 1 June 1833 - 6 June 1892, aged 59 yrs 5 days. Widow of Levi Gastineau, widow of Wm. Lasselle.
In the June term of court 1876, she was the defendant in a lawsuit as administratrix of the estate of her late husband, Levi Gastineau. The plaintiff, James H. Quillen, received a judgment of $40 -- but I don't know for what, as the original case file is apparently missing (Greene County, Indiana, Probate order books, Book 9, p. 87].
She appeared as head of household in the 1880 census in Stockton Township, Greene County, Indiana, ED 299, p. 7:
I have not yet been able to locate a will or a probate file for Rachel, but I suspect that one exists (or used to] per Michael K. Smith.
