[JBA:]
When her mother died in 1915, Rachel Eliezer was 20 or 21. She married Michalis Yomtov in Ioannina and had her first child Rebecca in 1916. She had two more children that we know of, Isaac in 1919, and Eliezer in 1924. In 1944, she, her husband Michalis, and their son Eliezer were among the Jewish residents transported to Auschwitz and murdered by the Nazis. Her son Isaac fled and eventually reached Israel, where he lived the rest of his life. Her daughter Rebecca survived by converting to Christianity and marrying a Greek Christian. Their daughter Kitsa still lives in Ioannina, one of the few family members still remaining in our ancestral city.
We have been able to correct the Huhem dates for this branch of the family via the Ioannina Holocaust records for the Yomtovs:
Yomtov Michalis son of Isaak, born 1891
Yomtov Rachil Wife of Michalis maiden name Eliezer, born 1894
Yomtov Eliezer son of Michalis, born 1924
These are all the Yomtovs of the Michalis family, and must be the same people as in the Huhem data. These dates suggested that the Huhem dates needed to be moved 10 years earlier, as is general in this branch.
