Ragnar Nurkse was an Estonian[1] international economist and policy maker mainly in the fields of international finance and economic development.

Ragnar Wilhelm Nurkse (5. oktoober 1907, Käru mõis, Pärnumaa – 6. mai 1959, Mont Pélerin, Šveits) oli eesti päritolu USA majandusteadlane.[1]

Father was forester and later overseer of Käru estate. Käru manor house was originally in Pärnumaa or province of Pärnu. It is now part of Raplamaa or the province of Rapla.

1917 - Ragnar leaves for Tallinn and in 1918 starts attending Toomkool in Tallinn.

1928 - his parents leave for Canada.

1946 - marries artist Harriet (France Henriette) Berger of Englewood, NJ. They have two sons Peter and Tõnis (Dennis).
