"Andrew and Ragnild "came to America in 1868 on the well known emigrant sailing ship- Anapar. Leaving Oslo, the ship encountered a hurricane on the Atlantic Ocean.... tearing down the masts and loosing the rigging. It drifted helplessly for 2 weeks when finally was towed into Limerick Island where it took 6 weeks to make repairs" (copied from J.M. Wahl's journal. August 9, 1868, they came to Black Earth, Cane, Co., Wisconsin, where they lived for 8 years. In 1876, they left for St. Paul and on to Sheldon, IA. From there they traveled overland by covered wagon, arriving in Canton, SD on May 27. Andrew suffered from rheumatism (arthritis?) the last 30 years of his life, confining him to his home the last 14 months and t his bed the last 4 weeks. The Lennox SD Golden Anniversary Book states that the sailing ship in the above story drifted back within 50 miles of Ireland to the harbor Limbric." Source: Sharon Simmons (Ramstad) - Generation 6
