Raymond Gardner was the eldest child of Mary Elizabeth ("Molly") Barker Gardner and Jonas Gardner, and brother of actress Ava Gardner. A dynamite cap was left too close to the fireplace where young Raymond stood eating one of his mother's biscuits. The ensuing blast killed the toddler. He died at the age of two years, two months and 15 days...and 12 years before the birth of his famous sibling.
