Aaron Williams Biography:

Aaron Williams was born December 12, 1789, in South Carolina. He married Elizabeth James Davis on January 25, 1813, in York District, South Carolina. They had ten children, six of which survived childhood. He was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian church on August 4, 1819, and licensed on September 4, 1819.

He moved to Hempstead County, Arkansas, in May 1842, and taught school at Washington until March 1843. Soon after his arrival he organized the Arkansas Presbytery. He pastored several churches in Hempstead, Lonoke, Prairie, and Pulaski counties. In 1844, he served as a delegate to the General Assembly, which was held in Louisville, Kentucky, and again in Philadephia, Pennsylvania. In 1852, he was elected as School Commissioner of Prairie County. He died October 8, 1861, at Little Rock. He and his wife are buried at Sylvania Church in Lonoke County, Arkansas.
