About Edwin Gyles
Graduated BA in 1856 from St John’s College, Cambridge (MA 1865) and was ordained. He was curate of Saint Barnabas, Liverpool, for a year before being appointed Chaplain superintendent at the Redhill Farm School in March 1857. However he resigned after for six months and became curate of St John’s Lowestoft. In 1860, he took the living of Laughton with Wildsworth, Lincolnshire, and four years later he became Vicar of All Saints’, Nottingham, a post he held until his death in 1880.
