The Rev. John Bracken was rector of Bruton Parish Church from 1773 to 1818. He also served as mayor of Williamsburg and president of the College of William and Mary. Built about 1765, the Bracken Tenement and its kitchen were part of Bracken’s extensive real estate holdings.
