About Robert Campbell
Reverend and Mrs. Campbell were very early settlers of Campbelltown, New York, coming from Newton, Connecticut and Stillwater, New York. Reverend Campbell was a chaplain in the colonial forces under General Gates at Saratoga, New York. Reverend Campbell preached at his father's Church. He moved to Steuben County in 1801. He was obviously not the pious man his father was as he kept an inn, sold rum and held slaves. Roger and Esther were interred at Campbell, New York.
