1701, 3 March - Thomas Radley files a will in Richmond County. He names his son Thomas; daughters Patience and Isabella Radley; wife Isabella to executor; witnesses Dominic Dawson, Rice Williams. 1701 - Rice Williams dies and his widow, Mary, rather quickly remarries to Francis Settle SR.1702. [Richmond Marriage Records, p. 164] (HRB: Francis Settle is also the father-in-law of Rice and Mary Williams' daughter, Elizabeth, married to Francis III.)
1701, 5 Feb. - Rice Williams files his will naming his wife as Mary; daughter Elizabeth Settle; grandson Francis Settle; son Thomas Williams to be executor. Witnesses were Elizabeth Jones; John Faver. Francis Settle has a long and interesting linage. His father was Francis Settle, (b. 1622, Potterton, Barwick in Elmet, England) and Elizabeth Bruce,(b. @ 1639, VA; died 1721-1722, VA.) Married: 1658, Rappahannock. Francis III marries Elizabeth Williams.
Rice Williams was born about 1620 probably in James City, VA. He married about 1650 to Mary whose maiden name is unknown. He died about 1700 in Richmond, VA. A Rice Williams is listed in the Muster of Inhabitants 1623/24 for Jamestown as Rice Williams/AP (the AP is for the Welsh language split between B and P. The name could have originally been Bryce or Price).
